About Us

We are the Menomonee Falls Robotics Team (Arsenal of Engineering), a veteran team in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC).

We work in subteams that each focus on different aspects of creating the robot:
-
Business Team - Takes care of financing and marketing the team
-
Design Team - Makes the blueprints of the robots and sends them to build team
-
Build Team - Assembles the robot from the design blueprints
-
Code Team - Programs the robot to carry out specific tasks depending on what strategy we plan on doing
-
Electronics Team - Tests components and wires the robot
-
Scouting Team - Analyzes other teams' statistics to help decide which to choose in an alliance

About FIRST Robotics
FIRST: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology
The ultimate Sport for the Mind combining the excitement of sport with the rigors science and technology.

"The hardest fun you'll ever have."
Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand", hone teamwork skills, and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. Each team has several volunteer mentors who each have professional, real-world experience, who lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with a championship.

It's as close to real-world engineering as a high school student can get.

Team and Program Summary
FIRST Robotics Competition is a program run by an organization named FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Students work with professionals in their area to build and compete with a robot in tasks identified by FIRST. Each team has approximately 10 weeks to design, build, and test their robots before heading out to competitions around the world. The Menomonee Falls High School FIRST Robotics Competition Team was founded in 2015 by Bob Townsend, Math instructor; and Bret Warner, Technology Education instructor at Menomonee Falls High School in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
This is our tenth season as a team and we are ready to build off of our experiences from last year. We are better prepared for this season and have been actively planning for the fast approaching season kick-off on January 6th. We have a better understanding as to what we should be expecting this year and hope to be more successful at the Wisconsin Regional Competition in Milwaukee as well as competing in a second competition at the Seven Rivers Regional in LaCrosse.
We are actively reaching out to local companies for sponsorship, professional support, and other resources.
Currently we meet Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Menomonee Falls High School. During build season from January through competition in March and April the team will meet on Wednesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Team Impact
The goal of our Robotics Team is to ready our students for careers in manufacturing, STEM, and business related fields. FRC gives students the opportunity to expand their horizons and experiences. FRC will teach them how to work as a group towards a common goal and how to cooperate with a team, much the same way that athletics does for other students. These experiences will broaden the students' understanding of careers available to them either at a 4-year college, a technical college, or directly into the workforce.
We have grown from a team of 8 dedicated students, two teachers, and a few parents to a team of 25 students and 15 mentors and we are working towards securing corporate partnerships that would allow us to be more financially secure.
Menomonee Falls High School has a manufacturing and construction lab capable of machining, welding, prototyping. We have a lot of students interested in these processes along with the careers associated with them. Having corporate sponsors would allow us to develop a partnership that would raise more awareness and create exposure to high tech / high paying jobs available to them during or after high school.
